History: The first permanent settlement at Braselton was made in 1884. The town is named after Harrison Braselton, a poor dirt farmer who married Susan Hosch, the daughter of a rich plantation owner. In 1876 William Harrison Braselton bought 800 acres of land and built a plantation on it. The Georgia General Assembly incorporated Braselton as a town in 1916. His eldest son, William Henry, served as the first mayor of Braselton.

Community: Braselton has seen tremendous growth while preserving its historic character. The town is home to Château Élan Resort and Winery, Road Atlanta racing circuit, and Thompson Mills Forest, Georgia’s official state arboretum. The Braselton Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001, recognizing its role as a well-preserved example of late 19th- and early 20th-century rural Georgia development. Today, Braselton is one of Georgia’s fastest-growing communities, offering small-town charm with easy access to Metro Atlanta.
